8 Simple Hacks to Instantly Improve your Videos

Did you know that brands are now embracing video marketing to promote their business now, more than ever?

Brands and businesses are actively adopting video marketing, and YouTube is in the perfect spot to help them in their endeavors.

Actually, it’s no longer surprising because we all know that video is the man of the moment.
And videos are also a great way to capture the attention of your target audience.

So whether you’re planning to create a video tutorial, video podcast or a vlog, your video must look professional because it will a reflection of you as a content creator.

Just imagine watching a low-quality video on YouTube. Aren’t you going to skip and find a better one?

As a content creator, I believe that producing high quality and professional looking videos is a MUST.

We also frequently hear about the rewards we will reap if we get it right. But the other side of the coin has been less explored. There may be times that you may not be so sure how to make your video look more professional. Don’t fret, I am here to help.

Now, let’s start with the basics:

  1. Write a script

When writing a video script, remember that your goal is to ensure that your message is delivered efficiently. A script is not to be used as a recital narration during your recording, but should be a guiding tool for natural flow of ideas when filming your vlog. This can be in a form of bullet points with a list of punch lines, quotes to share, and information points.

  2. Add an intro

So do you need an intro to your video? Well, the answer is YES!

The part of the video that displays at the start is known as the intro. This might be a quick animated clip or your brand’s signature that presents the identity of your film right away.

If you want to grow your channel and your brand on social media, I highly suggest that you should consider an intro as an essential part of your process. Just make sure it’s not too long and adds value to the video.

There are many reasons why you should invest time in making a title animation in your videos, but I just listed down three of them for you.

    – Builds recall of your personal brand
    – Offers consistency in your video
    – Hooks your viewer’s attention

  3. Background blur

Background blur is a technique used by content creators in the past to keep the focus on the most important subject and it’s also a fast way to make your video look more professional. So the idea is to make the element pop by removing distracting details in the background.

  4. Transitions

So you’re starting off on your first-ever video editing project and you have two great shots. But upon looking at them, you realized that they don’t really go together.

A video transition is used to inform the audience that the scene has changed and that the story is now being presented from a different point of view, or that the angle from which the scene is being viewed has changed to express scale or ambiance. A video transition, at its most basic level, is just a joining of two separate shots.

  5. Music

Are you looking for a way to make your video more appealing to your audience? Adding background music can instantly add appeal and sets a mood to your videos.

It’s essential to get the music correct when editing a video. Your video will come off as strange at best if you use the wrong soundtrack. At its worst, it may be downright terrifying.

But choosing the right music may not be that easy. When going through a selection of tracks, ask yourself these questions.

    – What’s your video about?

Before you choose a music track, think about what the underlying message of your video will be.

What type of video are you doing, for example, is one of the few items you should consider. What is the primary goal of the video? Do you want to entertain or educate your audience?

    – Who is your target audience?

Data is everywhere online. And if you’re not using it, you’re losing out. You don’t need to be a data scientist to analyze data, it’s quite simplified for the everyday person.

The reason why I say all this is because you need to know who your audience is and what their preferences are. If you have a channel with some views, you can go to the backend (your creator studio) to get a bit more detail on who your audience is.

    – What mood are you going for?

What emotions do you want your video to elicit? Do you want your audience to be happy, sad or to take action? Depending on the mood, you can select a song from a certain genre with a certain tempo.

  6. Use a clean background

When filming, always consider the background you’ll utilize for filming. A cluttered or distracting background is the epitome of unprofessionalism.

Using a solid-colored background for your video is an easy way to give it a professional appearance. For starters, you can use a wall, a bedsheet, or a huge sheet of backdrop paper.

  7. Keep it short

Did you know that people’s attention span is shorter than that of a goldfish?

It may sound funny and also unbelievable…but it’s a fact! So I suggest that you keep your video short and simple. This means you’ll need to be extremely creative and strategic in order to create video material that is both enticing (enough to persuade them right away) and engaging (enough to keep their attention throughout the video).

  8. Add an outro

As much as we hate admitting it, being prompted to click like, watch other videos, and do all the other things that help the channel succeed is effective. Viewers simply don’t consider such issues very often, but a friendly reminder from you can go a long way.

I also suggest adding a Subscribe button and a link to a previous video to keep them on your channel. This reminds your viewers to get notifications for your future videos! These can be added via post editing effects or there are some new settings in youtube that can add cards and video clips at the end of the video.

In my years in this field, I’ve noticed that the more professional your videos appear, the more benefit they will provide to your brand. Making professional-looking videos does require some skill and know-how, but it isn’t magic or something that requires years of study. Simply by using the fundamental tactics outlined in this article, you can substantially improve the quality of your next video.
